The Champions 101 Coaches Academy is a personal and professional development program for coaches who are committed to reaching their potential, and helping their players do the same. Our library of virtual training, hosted by Champions 101 founder and director Travis Daugherty, is focused on the important culture building and leadership development work that our very best requires us to do. The programming is broken down into three parts:
Part One: Purpose Development
“Why do you coach?” That one simple question serves as the foundation on which your life in this profession is built. Your attitude and your energy, your mindset and your decisions, your intentions and your interactions - they all reveal the deeper reason why you’ve chosen to call yourself a coach. (Read more here…)
Virtual training courses in this section include:

Part Two: Perspective Development
Perspective is defined simply as “your point of view” or “your way of seeing things.” It’s the manner in which you observe and interpret the daily events, issues, and experiences you face in life as a coach. Your perspective serves as the primary reflection of your purpose, and the primary driver of your performance. (Read more here…)

Part Three: Performance Development
Our purpose and our perspective are so important, not only because they guide our mindset and our approach (who we are on the inside), but also because they drive our decisions and our behavior (what people see from us on the outside). We can believe all the right things. We can think all the right things. But it’s our performance - what we actually do - that ultimately determines the kind of experience we create and the kind of coach we become. Learning and improving internally only has value if we apply it to the behavior our people see from us each day. (Read more here…)

A message from Champions 101 founder and director Travis Daugherty
Hi and thanks for your interest in the Champions 101 Coaches Academy. I’m honored to support people like you as they navigate what I know is a really important but really challenging experience for anyone who calls themselves a coach. I’ve spent many years in this profession and experienced all it has to offer - the ups and downs, the highs and lows, the celebrations and frustrations. It’s all a part of the journey for each of us, and yet, if we aren’t careful, it’s all capable of distracting us from the really meaningful work we’ve been called to do.
To me, that really meaningful work can best be described as building work. I believe great coaches are great builders. They recognize all that goes in to building a program. They are committed to constantly building their culture. They are working to build winning mindsets and habits, both in themselves and in their players. They are dedicated to building relationships, and in doing so building the kind of trust and connection that allows them to maximize their influence. Ultimately, great coaches are committed to using this sports experience to build champions - to help their players become the kind of people winning requires them to be, on the playing field and in life beyond it. In doing so, great coaches are building a legacy of impact that reaches far beyond a score on the scoreboard or a trophy in the trophy case.
We created the Champions 101 Coaches Academy as a resource to help you become a more intentional and a more effective builder. Building anything worthwhile starts with a solid blueprint - a clear plan that helps ensure you stay on track. It also requires the right tools, so you can execute that plan and bring your vision to life. My hope is that the training and resources you find here will help you create a clear blueprint for the kind of coach you want to be, and help equip you with the tools you need to intentionally and effectively execute that plan and bring it to life.
Champions aren’t born. They’re built. That’s the foundational belief that drives the work we do at Champions 101, and I hope your belief, too. What does that mean? It means that who your players are isn’t nearly as important as who you’re helping them become. It means that becoming their best is an ongoing process and a never-ending pursuit. It means that in order to reach their potential, they’ve got to keep getting better. That’s true for them, but each of those statements are true for you, too. Coach. So let’s get to work! Welcome to the Champions 101 Coaches Academy. Now let the building begin!
